Bestechman, Bestech’s newish entry-level sub-label, has revealed the next folding knife that will be joining their small but growing lineup. The Cicada’s Wing brings bright colors and bold lines to its target EDC genre.

What’s popular in terms of blade size varies year by year, but, when it comes to the EDC genre specifically, designers seem to have been favoring stuff around that 3-inch mark recently. Which makes perfect sense when you’re talking about an EDC knife in particular, because part of the job description is being ready for a vertical slice of tasks, some big, some small, that crop up in day-to-day life; a blade length that allows for both to some degree seems like a good spot to land on.

The B-Lock is part of what makes this one so light

The Cicada Wing’s blade follows this trend, but it does so with a profile that’s a step outside of the ordinary; it’s not too out there, but it makes an impression. Probably best described as a modified drop point, its characterful look does not interfere with the simple edge profile underneath: a nice, gradual belly for cutting horsepower moving up and out to a sturdy, usable tip. The blade’s bold look is underlined by the bright red blade coating shown on these initial pictures – although Bestech has said that a black coated blade will also be available.

Move your eyes down to the Cicada Wing’s handle and you’ll notice the presence of the B-Lock. This is the second time this Axislike has appeared in the Bestechman catalog, the first being on the Ronan, which released at the end of 2022. More interesting news, albeit some that isn’t visible in pictures, is the weight on this one; according to Bestech the Cicada’s Wing weighs just 2.11 oz., meaning users get quite a bit of knife without dragging down their pocket.

No release date on this one yet. Stay tuned.
