The Tallahassee Police Department is making strange bedfellows as of late. A post from their official Facebook account recently came across my feed, forcing me to hold back disgust. They teamed up with Moms Demand Action, the billionaire-funded, anti-civil rights organization, to “Light Up the Night Orange.”
They proclaimed Moms Demand Action a community partner, instead of a partisan, anti-gun organization. The Facebook post said:

“The event focused on the importance of responsible gun ownership, safe firearm storage, and the role each of us plays in preventing violence. One important reminder shared throughout the evening: many gun-related crimes begin with a stolen firearm. Simply bringing firearms inside and storing them securely can help prevent theft, reduce violence, and save lives.”
“We’re proud to stand alongside community partners who are committed to education, prevention, and working together to keep Tallahassee safe.”
The Badge and The Politico
The badge law enforcement wears should never be used to endorse anti-civil rights partisans. Police departments should represent the people of the communities, not groups funded by out-of-staters seeking to curtail civil rights.

They framed Moms Demand Action as a community partner, not as a political group. They are not a nonpartisan group focused on gun safety. Moms Demand Action is a purely partisan group funded by Democratic presidential hopeful Michael Bloomberg.

You know the same guy who once said, “Oh my God, you are arresting kids for marijuana who are all minorities.’ Yes, that’s true. Why? Because we put all the cops in the minority neighborhoods. Yes, that’s true. Why’d we do it? Because that’s where all the crime is. And the way you should get the guns out of the kids’ hands is throw them against the wall and frisk them.”

Bloomberg is a real beacon of Civil Liberties and certainly someone who should partner with Tallahassee law enforcement. The failed Democratic presidential candidate has long lobbied for gun control, funding multiple efforts, all the while being surrounded by armed bodyguards. Bodyguards who’ve received permission to carry a gun in a state that makes it particularly difficult for the average person to defend themselves.
It Gets Worse For Tallahassee PD
As you look through the photos, you might notice one of the men wearing a red hat. Not a MAGA hat, but an 8647 hat. The term 8647 has become a popular meme for those wishing to see a sitting President assassinated. Let’s be clear, I’m not pro-Trump, and I’m not carrying water for him.
I would be opposed to an 8644 or 8646 hat, too. I don’t believe in advocating for political violence against Americans I have disagreements with. With that said, I also don’t think that a hat or a message is grounds to impede their speech.

However, if I were a law enforcement agency, I would not endorse or be purposefully photographed with a group advocating that message. It’s incredibly unprofessional and certainly something a group that is supposed to be non-partisan should avoid.
Tallahassee PD needs to do better. Do not endorse anti-civil rights groups and do not proclaim them to be community partners. Do not side with groups that are advocating for political violence against the President of the United States. These are simple steps any law enforcement agency should be able to follow.
