I recently got to attend a two-day class and event hosted by CZ in Louisiana. CZ teamed up with Range Ready to host the event, and it was my first time seeing the Range Ready Facility. Range Ready is a part of Gun Talk media, and they’ve built one helluva facility inside of an ancient slaughterhouse just outside of New Orleans.
It’s nestled in a sleepier part of the area, north of the big city. The facility is home to Gun Talk’s studios as well as its numerous ranges. Apparently, when the folks at Gun Talk acquired the building, it was in rough shape; not a single room had sunlight peeking through the roof. The remodel was clearly extensive, as it no longer looks like an ancient building.

Most importantly, in the Southeast, in July, it doesn’t feel like an ancient building, and the blessings of A/C are in full effect.
Breaking Down Range Ready
Range Ready can be broken down into three different zones. Our first zone is the room that greets you upon entering the building. It’s a massive, modern classroom filled with tables and chairs, with a large, bright screen at the front that’s easy to see. We filled the space with gun writers, YouTubers, and beyond, and still had plenty of space to stretch out.
The second zone is adjacent to the classroom and is a massive, multiroom shoot house. The shoot house is for simunitions only. They started with a massive empty space and erected drywall walls complete with a variety of doors. Doors that are right, left, and centered, and doors that swing inwards and outwards.

These rooms aren’t empty either. The rooms are full of obstacles like tables, chairs, beds, and other realistic things you’d find in a real home. It looks like Range Ready emptied a few thrift stores to make it happen. We toured the shoothouse, but we didn’t conduct any training in the shoothouse.
The Ranges
The third and most important part of Range Ready was the gun ranges. Outside, we have three pristine gun ranges. One goes to one yard, and two go out to fifty. Centered in the middle is the main range that goes out to fifty yards, but is by far the widest.

It offered plenty of room for what appeared to be about two dozen shooters. Right past the 50-yard range is a massive barn where you can load magazines in the shade and enjoy the fans and Cajun coolers between sessions at the range. An enclosed area concealed a fridge full of water and ice cream. Yes, ice cream, which was popular at the end of the day.
The main range offers both steel targets and the ability to place numerous cardboard targets up. We used both during our time at the range. The range was immaculate, clean, and made me feel bad about my own home range. The berm was exceedingly high, and even the most novice shooter would have to try hard to be anything but safe.
As we shot throughout the day, staff on hand supervised for safety. There was never a time when there weren’t multiple eyes on the line. They were also quick to deploy and repair targets, making the course move quickly and easily.

While staff wasn’t leading the class, they made adjustments and offered advice when it was pertinent. The staff was knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. After the class, we were given free rein of the range, and they remained on hand to keep things safe and to help us wherever necessary.
The Range Ready Experience
Overall, this is a premium training center with an awesome staff and facility. Everything from the bathrooms to the free ice cream made it a premium experience. I was impressed, and more importantly, I learned a lot. They offer a variety of classes, and if you’re in the area, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Range Ready for classes.
