Not everything always goes as planned. No matter if you’re packing the proper gear, equipment, and knowhow that covers all aspects of your adventure, something could fail you in the field. Whether it’s an unexpected accident, damage to your gear, or nature intervenes with unforeseen conditions, you need a backup plan. This Plan “B”comes in the form of the Possibles Pouch developed by survival expert, John Barklow for Uncharted Supply Co. (UnchartedSupplyCo.com.) Inside its watertight shell is everything you need to solve these unpredictable snags on your journey and allow you to continue onward. I dug deep into its contents to see if everything is truly possible with this seemingly comprehensive kit.
Holding it All Inside
My dissecting of this outdoor essential started with the pouch itself. This would be the first point of failure if constructed poorly. However, this was definitely not the case here. I didn’t need the specs to understand this vessel’s strength. (For those that do, its 40D nylon ripstop with dual-sided TPU coating.) The feel within my hand was that of hearty, durable material. It’s constructed was top-notch with non-stitched seams that were hypersonically welded for ultimate waterproof protection. Additionally, the pouch offers extra interior space for personal items, and the bag can be used to collect water if needed in-the-field. The dimensions (7.5 x 5 x 2 inches) were no larger than a paperback book, so carry-ability, I would assume, shouldn’t be a problem.

Exploring its Contents
I was now into the meat and potatoes of the Possibles Pouch. The inside assortment, naturally, makes or breaks this pack. Survival-style kits can run the gamut from top-tier to a collection of disjointed fluff. Upon laying out the contents to take a wide overview, it was obvious that many categories of survival were represented. Injuries are very difficult to avoid when outdoors. This kit offered pain relievers, bandages, and various would aids. Additionally, a ferro rod, tinder, and matches were perfect for fire making, while duct tape, zip ties, and bailing wire offered a fix for damaged gear. A fishing kit and water purification tablets would help with food and water, while a Mylar blanket would help retain heat in cold weather. Definitely all gear had a purpose with no added filler.

In-Use Durability
You can stuff many items into a pack and call it an emergency kit, but if durability is poor, it won’t go far for you. I examined all items within the Possibles Pouch and was quite pleased with their quality. All bandages were individually packaged. They were thick and their adhesive secured well. The signal mirror was seemingly unbreakable, as was the Mylar blanket. I twisted and pulled the reflective material, and it didn’t tear nor rip. I really enjoyed the fishing kit, as all items held up as I tested them in my nearby waterway. The duct tape and zip ties were strong and resisted my attempts to forcibly break them. Not to neglect the pouch itself. It was thick and the closure was easy to operate. I tested its water-carrier capabilities and it both held up and was completely waterproof.

Ease of Storage and Carry
Naturally, a larger kit would hold more items. But that’s not what this assortment is all about. The compactness of the Possibles Pouch is what makes it invaluable for any outdoor excursion. Larger packs would most likely be left at the cabin, in the tent, or in a vehicle’s trunk. Not so here. The Possible Pouch is small enough to go with you no matter where or how you travel. That’s the secret to its success. You’ll have gear on-hand to aid you when things don’t go as planned. The pack allows for specific personal additions or removal of stock items to make the pouch even more compact to carry. I carried this kit in my own backpack without sacrificing nearly any space. Will it fit into your jacket or cargo pants pocket? That’s a definite yes, as I tried both with much success.

Assessing the Pack
The Possibles Pouch doesn’t claim to be the ultimate survival kit or the end-all to your limitless possible troubles when outdoors. It does, however, give you that extra peace of mind that its varied contents can aid in-a-pinch. It’s compact footprint almost ensures that it will travel with you and it can be re-stocked or re-configured according to your needs. At only $89.00, this pack saves you time and effort from you trying to assemble your own kit (and I guarantee you, it won’t reach this pack’s versatility.) The Uncharted Supply Co. has done the work for you so your more than ready to deal with whatever Mother Nature decides to throw at you.
