Welcome everyone to the 235th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal?  Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

In our last edition, our poll was, well sadly acting up again so while we don’t have a definitive answer, we do know that the original auction remains up with the custom 1981 Colt Python 6” .357 Mag still up for grabs.

In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a Deadpool-themed Magnum Research Baby Eagle chambered in 40 S&W. As is tradition, this retro chambered gat is currently up for sale on GunBroker with a Starting Bid of $500 with No Reserve.

Calibers like 40 Smith and Wesson are like Hollywood blockbusters.  Even after the original fanfare has faded, it’s only a matter of time before it’s subsequently reintroduced and rebranded as somehow relevant. Is it something we asked for?  Not really, but it’s gonna happen anyway.

I know I’ve poked the bear when it comes to the 40 S&W debate, and yes, I own a handgun chambered in this caliber I can’t seem to part ways with.  Do I think it’ll make a comeback? Absolutely not, but it’s fun to shoot every once in a while. Would I ever own a gun with a themed paint job? Certainly, and absolutely not. Even if I did like the movie.
