A tragic shooting on the Florida Turnpike in Broward County claimed the lives of a 4-year-old girl and her mother. Authorities are investigating and asking anyone with information to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers.

BROWARD COUNTY, FL (3-minute read) — A late Friday night shooting on the Florida Turnpike tragically ended the lives of a 4-year-old girl and her mother, Beatrice Saintvil. The incident occurred just before midnight, south of Hollywood Boulevard, when Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, troopers found both victims with gunshot wounds.

Hollywood Fire Rescue was promptly on the scene. Unfortunately, the young girl was pronounced dead at the scene, while her mother succumbed to her injuries later at the hospital.

The severity of the situation led to a temporary closure of the Florida Turnpike in both directions early Saturday morning. A tow truck was seen removing a car that had been riddled with bullets on both the front and back passenger sides, indicating a targeted shooting.

Authorities have appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477. The community’s involvement could be crucial in uncovering details that lead to the apprehension of those responsible.

Safety Tip: Always be aware of your surroundings and avoid distractions, especially when driving at night. If you suspect you are being followed or targeted, drive to the nearest police station or a well-lit, populated area.
