MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE — A suspect named Mavis Christian Jr., 52, was found deceased from a presumed self-inflicted gunshot wound following a manhunt. Christian Jr. was implicated in three separate shootings across Memphis on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of several women and girls.
The first incident occurred after 5:30 p.m. on Field Lark Drive, where police discovered two girls and a woman with gunshot wounds. One girl and the woman died at the scene, while the other girl was critically injured. An hour later, another woman was found shot dead on Warrington Road. The third shooting happened before 9:30 p.m. on Howard Drive, claiming another woman’s life.
Police connected these shootings and identified Christian Jr. as the suspect, who fled each scene in a white Chevrolet Malibu. He was considered armed and extremely dangerous during the search, which involved local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
The investigation suggests these shootings were related to a domestic violence incident, with Christian Jr. being a known relative to the victims.
