Rep. Bob Good (R-Va.), the chair of the ultra-conservative House Freedom Caucus, has been defeated in a primary.

A recount on Thursday confirmed that state Sen. John McGuire beat Good in the June election by just a few hundred votes, according to The Associated Press — a close but devastating loss for the confrontational wing of the House GOP conference that has been a headache for leadership, including former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, whom Good helped depose last year.
