Spartan Blades has teamed up with a new outside design partner, Ondřej Němec, for their latest field grade folder release. The Spartan-Němec folder brings an entirely new style of knife into the Spartan Blades lineup.

Spartan Blades has always been proud of the hard-use, no-nonsense design philosophy that informs their knives. But within that parameter Spartan found plenty of room for visual creativity over the years, diversifying its catalog with releases of strikingly different styles. Even still, the Spartan-Němec may be the most strikingly different knife the company has released up to this point. That can be chalked up to the presence of a new collaborator in Ondřej Němec, who brings years of experience to the job, accrued working at his own production knife label.

Němec is a mover and shaker in the Czech knife world, having established Acta Non Verba Knives in 2018, a premium production knife manufacturer headquartered in Moravské Budějovice in the Czech Republic. The ANV look is one of modern, curving lines, embellished with tactical flourishes. The Spartan-Němec brings that look to the Spartan lineup with its strikingly narrow 3.5-inch blade, which makes it carry like something a bit smaller. The drop point shape and S35VN make the Spartan-Němec a 100% reliable everyday carry, tackling the full gamut of daily chores and looking good while doing it.

The carbon fiber model

The full titanium (or full carbon fiber) handle scales sport matching diagonal millwork, a flourish that matches up with the styling on lots of ANV releases. Spartan and Němec fit a liner lock under the off-side scale, and there’s a deep carry pocket clip that allows users to take full advantage of the Spartan-Němec’s supercompact footprint, burying it completely in the pocket. The Spartan-Němec qualifies for featherweight status with a total weight of just 2.34 oz.

The Spartan-Němec Folder is available now.
