J.P. Sauer & Sohn have introduced a new bolt action rifle, the Sauer 505. This new rifle has two-piece furniture and a completely new action that is advertised as silky smooth, super silent and extremely fast. Let’s take a look at the specs and features of the new Sauer 505 bolt action rifle.

J.P. Sauer & Sohn @ TFB:

For more than 270 years, J. P. SAUER & SOHN have been providing hunters with rifles that impress with uncompromising quality, utmost precision and timeless beauty. The latest highlight of this unparalleled history: the new Sauer 505 – an irresistible rifle that will continue to delight for generations.

The receiver of the Sauer 505 rifle is made of steel and has a built-in saddle scope mount. The action is push feed. The bolt has two rows of three locking lugs and a spring-loaded plunger ejector. The rifle features a striker cocking/decocking mechanism at the rear of the bolt. The trigger mechanism allows selecting one of the following pre-set trigger pull weights: 0,77 lbs, 1.66 lbs, 2.2 lbs, 2.8 lbs. Depending on the caliber choice, the lengths of the cold hammer forged barrels can be from 16.5″ to 24″. The muzzles are threaded with M15x1 or M17x1 metric thread pitches. The barrels are user removable allowing easy caliber changes.

Sauer divides the chambering options of the S 505 rifle into five groups:

  • Mini (.222 Rem, .223 Rem)
  • Medium (.243 Win, .270 Win, 6,5×55 SE, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Win, .30-06 Springfield, 7×64, 8×57 IS, 9,3×62)
  • Short Magnum (.270 WSM, 6.5 PRC, 8.5×55 Blaser)
  • Magnum (7 mm Rem Mag, .300 Win Mag, 8×68 S, .375 H&H Mag)
  • Swiss (10.3x60R)

The Sauer 505 rifle is fed from detachable box magazines. The standard magazine capacity is two or three rounds with optional five-round magazines available. The magazine release button can be locked to prevent any possibility of an unintentional magazine release.
