The NFA is unconstitutional. Period. It needs to be fully REPEALED by Congress.
Until we win that fight, GOA is working with our allies in Congress to chip away at the NFA – piece by piece – until there’s nothing left.
That’s why I recently sat down with Rep. Andrew Clyde to discuss his important legislation called the SHORT Act – or Stop Harassing Owners of Rifles Today.
The SHORT Act would remove short-barreled rifles (SBRs), short-barreled shotguns (SBSs), and Any Other Weapons (AOWs) from the NFA.
The ATF has abused the NFA to force Americans to register their SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs; pay a $200 tax just to exercise their rights; and comply with draconian restrictions just to transport their own property.
And it’s easy to imagine a future President Gavin Newsom doing what Biden already did with SBRs – expanding NFA definitions to turn millions of lawful gun owners into felons overnight.
But we’re not stopping there! GOA is also fighting to pass the Hearing Protection Act (HPA), which would remove suppressors from the NFA.
Both bills strike at the heart of the NFA, which the ATF continues to weaponize by writing unconstitutional rules that infringe on your Second Amendment rights.
That’s why GOA is working with Rep. Clyde to attach the SHORT Act and the HPA to a MUST-PASS bill. Anti-gun politicians always try to sneak gun control into legislation. It’s time for pro-gun members to fight fire with fire and force pro-2A bills into must-pass legislation.
When I asked Rep. Clyde what he needs from GOA to make it happen so that we can deal a blow to the NFA, his answer was simple: mobilize GOA’s army of grassroots advocates like YOU to turn up the heat on Congress.
So please, add your name to our pre-written letter urging YOUR Representative to cosponsor these bills and to support them when they’re offered as amendments to any must-pass bill.
